Meconet is a Finnish family-owned business with a history spanning more than 80 years that operates as a contract manufacturer of various metal components. Its customer base consists of demanding industrial companies for which quality and delivery reliability are critical.

In recent years, the partnership between Meconet and Löfs has taken a major leap forward. This is due both to Meconet’s growing painting needs and to the company’s satisfaction with Löfs’ flexible and customer-focused approach.

An acute challenge spurred a change in partners

A key factor in deepening the partnership was a situation in which Meconet had to consider changing its surface treatment partner for a particular project. “We encountered quality issues with our previous supplier that needed to be resolved quickly. These were products for which end customers had a constant need, so we couldn’t afford to wait,” explains Juuso Virtanen, Meconet’s Director of Procurement.

Virtanen’s team is responsible for strategic procurement: selecting suppliers and developing partnerships with a focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, and delivery reliability.

In a crisis situation like this, trust and transparency emerged as the decisive factors. “We already had good experiences with Löfs, and we knew that with them, things would be handled quickly and reliably. That was the most important thing—we had to ensure the customer’s needs were met and get the situation under control.”

The exchange process proceeded smoothly

The partnership began with a phone call to Tommy Löfs, CEO of Löfs. “We openly discussed our challenges and needs. By the end of the conversation, it was clear that Löfs had both the willingness and the necessary capacity to take on the project.”

In addition to speed, a shared set of values was crucial. “Both Meconet and Löfs are long-standing Finnish family-owned businesses. This creates a foundation for trust and long-term cooperation—neither is looking for quick wins, but rather a sustainable partnership.”

In the early stages of the project, short daily meetings were held to discuss urgent matters, agree on schedules, and ensure that the end customers’ needs were met. According to Virtanen, after just under three weeks, the collaboration was already running at a normal pace.

Resources were freed up and the situation calmed down

Previous problems had tied up a lot of Meconet’s resources in production, quality, and procurement. Once the partnership with Löfs began, the situation changed rapidly. “As soon as we agreed to partner with Löfs, the workload on our own organization began to ease. Things moved forward in a controlled manner,” Virtanen explains.

Entrepreneurial spirit and personal trust are key

According to Virtanen, the success of a partnership is based above all on trust and open cooperation. “Löfs clearly embodies an entrepreneurial spirit. It’s significant that the owner is involved in day-to-day operations and that matters can be agreed upon flexibly. That makes our collaboration smooth.”

“Trust isn’t built overnight, but as it grows, it provides a solid foundation on which to build long-term cooperation. It allows us to focus on developing solutions that benefit our customers.”
