Thermal spraying

Thermal Spraying for Extreme Atmospheric and Mechanical Corrosion Barriers

Advanced Thermal Spraying Solutions for Heavy Industrial Environments

Löfs’ high-capacity thermal spraying production lines execute heavy-duty surface conditioning engineered specifically for massive structural elements requiring unyielding long-term performance. The automated application matrix guarantees uniform zinc thickness and mechanical durability, eliminating supply chain risk for large-scale individual components.

This non-thermal structural execution provides continuous process predictability without the risk of component warping, thermal deformation, or hydrogen embrittlement. Every coating stage operates under certified quality metrics to ensure absolute compliance with the heavy industry’s strictest corrosion specifications.

Thermal spraying

Execution without Exceptions
  • High-volume throughput capacity for heavy-duty industrial structures and individual massive components
  • Complete duplex combination processing for maximum atmospheric and chemical protection
  • Precision non-thermal protection layer execution with zero risk of component thermal deformation

galvanizing

High Performance Galvanizing Processes Extend Industrial Component Service Life

Advanced industrial galvanizing methodologies are dictated strictly by component geometry, operational exposure, and precise dimensional tolerances. Integrating Löfs’ metallurgical and engineering expertise into the initial product design phase guarantees optimal technological execution and verified lifecycle predictability for critical infrastructure components.

Every automated galvanizing phase operates under absolute process control to eliminate manufacturing risks and supply chain variances. All coating operations execute in total compliance with international industrial standards, rigorous occupational safety protocols, and stringent environmental legislation (EHS).

  • Thermal spraying

Thermal spraying (thermal coating, spray zinc coating) is a zinc coating method in which molten zinc is sprayed onto a pretreated metal surface using compressed air.

Spray coating produces a remarkably thick (on average 150 μm) protective layer. It provides exceptionally tough protection against both corrosion and mechanical abrasion and wear in heavy-duty industrial structures.

Certified Quality Architecture of the Thermal Spraying Process

Pretreatment

A perfect finish always requires a clean surface. We carefully prep metal parts by mechanically or chemically removing contaminants, rust, and mill scale. This ensures maximum and uniform adhesion of the zinc coating.

Coating

The parts are coated on our modern production lines using the selected method. In thermal coating, the correct film thickness—averaging 150 µm—is achieved through a standardized and metered spraying process. This ensures a completely homogeneous and pore-free protective layer that leaves no weak spots in critical structures.

Duplex finish (optional)

We offer a unique advantage: we can finish the galvanizing process by painting over the zinc coating using our own state-of-the-art painting lines. This Duplex treatment provides multiple layers of protection against highly corrosive environments (C4–CX) and allows you to apply your desired accent or brand color over the gray zinc surface.

Quality Assurance and Measurement

We accurately measure the thickness of the finished protective coating using digital film thickness gauges. Monitoring in accordance with our ISO 9001 system ensures that every batch meets the requirements of the standards and the tolerances specified by the customer.

Frequently Asked Questions About Thermal Spraying

We serve manufacturers in the metal, machinery, and equipment industries by offering industrial-scale capacity and uncompromising quality. Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions related to galvanizing.

In zinc painting, the zinc is already present in the liquid paint itself, so it is applied to the surface just like regular paint. In true thermal spraying, a pure, metallic layer of zinc is formed on the metal surface by mechanically melting and spraying a wire with compressed air. Zinc painting is an excellent repair and priming method, but it does not provide the same mechanical wear resistance as heavy-duty thermal zinc coating.

In our modern production facilities, a large portion of the waste heat generated by our production lines and processes is recovered and used to heat our buildings. This significantly reduces our total energy consumption and carbon footprint. For industrial buyers, this means not only a more responsible supply chain but also greater cost efficiency, as energy waste is minimized through careful planning.
